Subj: Danny news
Here’s the latest news
about Danny. First of all, he is now
officially registered
as as AKC Collie and his name (per your request)
is:
JacLyns Danny Miller #DN25025302.
On November 21st he
weighed 49 pounds. The doctor said he would
reach 50
pounds or more by the end of the month so that put him in the
50
- 100 pound range for his heartworm pill dosage. We also had his
blood tested before his surgery because the doctor thought it was
a
safe thing to do. His liver and kidneys are fine.
The only thing he
had was his eosinophils were high and his
lympocytes slightly
elevated. We had him tested again for
parasites, but there were
none. I talked with my
brother and he said don’t worry about it that
was very
common. Besides he definitely is not acting sick, he’s full
of energy. His surgery is scheduled for Dec. 10th and I’ll let
you
know what he ends up having.
Now the
amazing news. Dan is the man!! We had to go to Minnesota
this Thanksgiving weekend to bring my mom home. (Her 2 broken
ribs
are healed and she is able to travel now). I
was anxious about
taking a young puppy on such a long trip but,
he surprised us and he
handled the long car ride very
well. We spent 5 days at my brothers
with 2 other dogs and
Danny never messed once and he got along okay
with the other
dogs. The cars, the home, the dogs, the people, all
were new to him and he fit right in. But, the most amazing
thing
happened when we took him to the University of Minnesota
in DOWNTOWN
Minneapolis. He walked on the leash beside us,
surrounded by lots of
strangers and never bothered them.
There were bicyclists, no
problem. There was lots of city
traffic, cars and busses, 4 lane
highways to cross, traffic
lights (which he stopped at, sat, and
waited - wow!), sidewalks
right next to city streets, etc. and he
performed beautifully!!!
That’s why we now say to him “Dan, you’re the
man”! All of
this was a new experience for him with no prior
training.
Oh, and he even had his picture taken by a passerby who
thought
he was handsome.
Needless to say we are very pleased with him and
pray his surgery goes
well next
week.
Sincerely,
Priscilla
